Fairhope is a city in Baldwin County, Alabama. It is located on the sloping plateau with the shoreline and the cliffs of the Mobile Bay. It is 10 km south of Daphne and 16 km south of the Spanish Fort. The town covers 31.27 square kilometers. The Southern Magazine named it the best small town in the South.

Fairhope was founded on the site which was formerly Alabama City in 1894. The population of this town is 17,826. These are divided among 6,732 households and 4,395 families. The population density is 634.5 per square mile. The racial markup of the town is 91.1% white, 6.2% black and the rest from other races. A majority of the population consists of middle-aged married couples. The per capita income is $35,086. The best thing is that only 5.9% people are below the poverty line.

The Government of Fairhope consists of a mayor and a five-person city council. The mayor works fulltime while others work as part-timers. The Mayor is Karin Wilson and the council members are Kevin Boone, Robert Brown, Jay Robinson, Jimmy Conyers and Jack Burrell.

Fairhope’s education system is served by the Baldwin County Public Schools system. Some of the leading educational institutes in the area include the Fairhope High School, the Fairhope Middle School, and the J. Larry Newton School. Fairhope has attracted many artists and intellectuals over the years. Some notable people also belong to this town which include Bob Baumhower (the famous football player), Jimmy Buffett (singer and songwriter), and Dave Edwards (musician).

 The climate of this region is characterized as humid subtropical. It experiences hot summers, which makes the use of air conditioners a must, and it may be challenging to live without them. There are generally mild to cool winters.
